18-20"- 13g of 4ply, 3.5mm hook- Tension- 11tr x 4 ½ rows to 2"(5cm)
20-22"- 20g of double knitting, 4mm hook.- Tension- 10tr x 4 rows to 2"(5cm)
Abbreviations: ch- chain, dc- double crochet, tr- treble, tr2tog- treble 2 together, sl.st - slip stitch,
rep - repeat, beg - begining.

Using hook and yarn as above
10 - 12" & 14 - 16" do stitches in red
18 - 20" & 20-22" do 2nd lot of stitches
Make 4ch, sl.st to form ring.
Rnd 1: 3ch, 11tr, 13tr into ring, sl.st into top of beg 3ch. (12, 14sts)
Rnd 2: 3ch. 1tr into base of 3ch, 2tr into each st to end, sl.st into top of beg 3ch. (24, 28sts)
Rnd 3: 3ch, 2tr into next st, * 1tr into next st, 2tr into next st, rep from * to end, sl.st
into top of beg 3ch. (36, 42sts)
Rnd 4: 3ch, 1tr in next st, 2tr into next st, * 1tr into next 2sts, 2tr into next st, rep
from * to end, sl. st into top of beg 3ch. (48, 56sts)
Side
Rnd 1: 3ch, miss 3sts, (1tr, 3ch, 1tr) in next st, miss 3sts, * (1tr, 1ch, 1tr) in next st,
miss 3sts, (1tr, 3ch, 1tr) in next st, miss 3sts, rep from * to end, (1tr, 1ch), into
same st as beg 3ch, sl.st into top of beg 3ch.
Rnd 2: 3ch, 6dtr in next 3ch.sp, * (1tr, 1ch, 1tr) in next 1ch.sp, 6dtr in next 3ch.sp,
rep from * to end, (1tr, 1ch) into 1ch.sp, sl.st into top of beg 3ch.
Rnd 3:3ch, (1tr, 3ch, 1tr) into the middle of the 6dtr, * (1tr, 1ch, 1tr) in next 1ch.sp,

Repeat rnds 2-3 once, twice more. Break yarn
Flower
Using appropriate hook & yarn
Make 4ch, sl. st to form ring.
Rnd 1: 1ch, 8dc, 10dc into ring, sl.st into top of
beg dc.
Break yarn if changing colour and rejoin it to the top of any dc if not just continue.
Rnd 2: * 6ch, 8ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc
into next 4, 6sts, sl.st into the same dc,6, 8ch,
1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into next 4, 6sts,
sl.st into next dc, rep from * to end, sl.st into bottom of beg 6ch, 8ch.
Break yarn, sew flower onto the hat and sew in threads.
