Requirements For Dress

Hooks   -4.00mm , 3.50mm
Decoration   -14 small white roses, 2 large pink satin roses, 6 pearl buttons for dress, 16cm (6.5") of opal bead trim,233cm (91.5") of 1cm wide white ribbon, 51cm(20") of 2cm(0.75") wide pink ribbon,
Yarn    -approx 4 x 50g of pink, 1 x 50g of white double knitting
Abbreviations: - ch- chain, sc - single crochet, dc- double crochet, tr- treble, dtr- double treble, fptr, front post treble, rs- right side

Sailor Dress

Yoke
Using 3.5mm hook and white yarn
Row 1: Ch 56, dc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next 5 ch, 3 dc in next ch, (forms corner) * dc in next 13 ch, 3 dc in next ch (forms corner); rep from * 2 more times, dc in last 6 ch, turn (63 sts).
Note. Work the Rest of the yoke rows in Back Loops only
Rows 2-11: Ch 1, dc in each st across with 3 dc in each centre corner st, turn ending with 143 dc in last row.

Back Left
Rows 12: Ch 1, dc in first 18 sts turn
. Rows 13-19: Ch 1, dc in each st across turn. At end of last row, fasten off. (18sts)

Back Right
Join yarn on front to carry on ridge pattern as before
Rows 12: Ch 1, dc in first 18 sts turn.
Rows 13-19: Ch 1, dc in each st across turn. At end of last row, fasten off. (18sts)

Front
Join yarn on front to carry on ridge pattern as before
Rows 12: Ch 1, dc in first 37 sts turn.
Rows 13-19: Ch 1, dc in each st across turn. At end of last row, fasten off. (37sts)
Buttonhole Row sections: Working in ends of rows up Left Back, with right side of work facing you, join with dc in first row, dc in each row up, turn (19 dc).
Row 2: Ch 1, dc in each st, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, dc in first 4 sts, for Buttonhole (ch 2, skip next 2 sts), * dc in next 4 sts, Buttonhole, (ch 2, skip next 2 sts) rep from * one more time, dc in last st, turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, dc in each st and 2 dc in each 2 ch sp , turn (19 dc).
Row 5: ch 1, dc in each st, fasten off.
Button Row section: Working in ends of rows down Right Back, with right side of work facing you, join with dc in first row, dc in end of each row, turn (19).
Rows 2-5: Ch 1, dc in each st, turn. At end of last row, fasten off.

Neck Trim
Using hook 4mm, join pink yarn to the neck of bodice (missing out the button bands). *Dc into 1st st, miss one st, 5tr into next st, miss next st * repeat from * to * till end fasten off

Waistband
Using 4 hook and pink yarn
Ch 6
Row 1: dc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next 4 sts, ch1 turn
Row 2: working in the back loops only, dc in next 5 sts, ch1 turn
Repeat 2nd row 58 times
Row 61: join to first row by slip stitching the 2 row ends together, break yarn

Outside Waistband & skirt
Still using 4mm hook and pink yarn Join yarn to edge of waistband
Row 1:4ch, leaving last loop of each dtr on hook make 2dtr into same place as 4 ch, yarn over hook (yoh) and draw through all loops on hook, * 4 ch, miss next st, sl st into next st, 4 ch, miss next st leaving last loop of each dtr on hook make 3dtr in next st, yoh, draw through all loops on hook (cluster made) repeat from * ending with 4 ch sl st onto top of first cluster.
Row 2: 1 ch, 1dc in same place as sl st * 5 ch, 1 dc in top of next cluster repeat from * ending with 7ch, sl st into first dc
Repeat rows 1 & 2, three more times
Row 9:4ch, leaving last loop of each dtr on hook make 2dtr into same place as 4 ch, yarn over hook (yoh) and draw through all loops on hook, * 4 ch, miss next st, sl st into next st, 4 ch, miss next st leaving last loop of each dtr on hook make 3dtr in next st, yoh, draw through all loops on hook (cluster made) repeat from * ending with 4 ch sl st onto top of first cluster.
Row 10: 1 ch, 1dc in same place as sl st * 3 ch, 1 dc in top of next cluster repeat from * ending with 3ch, sl st into first dc
Repeat rows 9 & 10, two more times break yarn and fasten of.

Edging
I joined the white yarn to the bottom of the skirt
Row 1: 1 ch, 1dc in same place as sl st * 3 ch, 1 dc in top of next cluster repeat from * ending with 3ch, sl st into first dc
Row 2: 8 ch, miss 1 st slip stitch into next, repeat this all the way around back to first 8ch and sl st into the bottom, fasten of.


Bodice
I doubled the rib over backwards so that it was behind row 1, sewing it on to the top of row 2 Row 1:join white yarn to top of waistband, 3 ch, 1 tr in each st around skirt, sl st into top of 3 ch. Turn (60sts)
Row 2:working into back loop, 3 ch, 1 tr in each st, sl st into top of 3 ch. Turn
Row 3:working into back loop 3 ch, 1 tr in each st, 1 tr behind the first 4 tr of this row 1ch. Turn (this starts the back opening)
Buttonhole Row 4:working into back loop 3 ch, 1 tr in each st, (buttonhole) miss 3rd last st, 1 ch, 1 tr into last 2 st, 1ch. Turn
Row 5:working into back loop 3 ch, 1 tr in each st to end including, 1 tr in the ch space, 1ch. Turn
Row 6-9:repeat rows 4 & 5, 2 times

Back right Row 10: working into back loop 3 ch, 1 tr in 14 sts across. (15sts) Turn
Row 11-12: repeat row 10 and fasten of.

Front Miss 4 st (underarm) from back right and rejoin white yarn
Row 10: working into back loop 3 ch, 1 tr in 25 sts across. (26sts) Turn
Row 11-12: repeat row 10 and fasten of.

Back left
Miss 4 st (underarm) from front and rejoin white yarn
Buttonhole Row 10: working into back loop 3 ch, 1 tr in each st across, miss 3rd last st, 1 ch, 1 tr into last 2 st, 1ch. (13sts) Turn
Row 11: working into back loop 3 ch, 1 tr in each st to end including, 1 tr in the ch space , 1ch. Turn . (14sts) Turn
Repeat row 10 and fasten of

Making up
I first sewed the 2 back right sections together. The top of the bodice section to 4th ridge down on the yoke, as I only wanted 2 buttonholes through both. Then I sewed down the edge to last 2 ridges on yoke. Then I sewed the 2 front sections together. The top of the bodice section, to the neck on the yoke. I first sewed the 2 back left sections together. The top of the bodice section, to 4th ridge down on the yoke. Then I sewed down the edge to last 2 ridges on yoke.

Arms
Please read before attempting! Looking at the front of the dress, I rejoined the yarn in the 2nd st of the armhole away from the front. I have done 1 tr in 44sts round the armhole- you may want to guess but I have tried to explain where I have picked these up.
Row1: 3 ch, 1 tr in next st, 1 tr in the corner, 1 on the side of first tr & 1 at the top, 2trs on the side of next 2 trs, 1tr on the top of next 2trs, 1 tr in 18sts along the top (into yoke), 1 tr into the corner of yoke, 1 tr in 3sts of the front of the yoke, 1 tr into (sides of trs) - top & middle, top & 2middle, top & 2middle, 1 tr into last 2 sts of bottom of arm hole (44sts)
Row 2:4ch, leaving last loop of each dtr on hook make 2dtr into same place as 4 ch, yarn over hook (yoh) and draw through all loops on hook, * 4 ch, miss next st, sl st into next st, 4 ch, miss next st leaving last loop of each dtr on hook make 3dtr in next st, yoh, draw through all loops on hook (cluster made) repeat from * ending with 4 ch, sl st onto top of first cluster. (11clusters)
Row 3: 1 ch, 1dc in same place as sl st * 3 ch, 1 dc in top of next cluster repeat from * ending with 3ch, sl st into first dc
Repeat rows 2 & 3, five more times

Edging
Row14: 3ch, 2tr into same st, 3tr into each st to end

Decoration
I sewed on the 6 heart buttons on to the back, then I sewed 1 of the large pink satin roses into each corner of the yoke. I sewed 1 of the small white satin roses onto each 5th cluster on the last row of the skirt and took half the strand of opal bead trim and weaved it into the corner of the yoke I sewed into place at each end.1 pearl onto each shell at the neck. The 1" wide white ribbon I weaved in at the waistband. I took half of the 0.75" wide pink ribbon and weaved them into the cuffs!!
